EPU: Penang monorail, Porr shelved.
Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister's Department today said that the RM2 billion Penang Monorail and RM1.5 billion Penang Outer Ring Road have been shelved.
According to EPU director-general Dr Sulaiman Mahbob, projects that are not people-centred under the original Ninth Malaysia Plan (9MP) will be put on hold or deferred.
He confrimed to reporters at the Parliament lobby today that the two projects have been deferred.
"They have been deferred because the priority is given to the people-centred project," Sulaiman said when met after the tabling of the 9MP mid-term review report by Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi at the Dewan Rakyat.
The EPU director-general however said the two Penang-based mega projects were among a number of projects slated to be deferred under the 9MP mid-term preview.
"(They are) among those, there are many, many more," he said, without elaborating.
Other projects affected include the building of the memorials under the Minister of Unity , Culture , Arts and Heritage , according to national news agency BERNAMA.
Sulaiman was asked to confrim the deferment of the two projects as Abdullah in his speech earlier has vowed to continue to all development projects under the 9MP in all states.
1st of all, i thought Barisan Nasional will fullfill their promises during election , how come the project been deferred ? is Penang Outer Ring Road & Penang Monorail is under Minister of Unity , Culture , Art and Heritage ? Pak Lah & Najid should take a closer look at Penang Traffic.
It's getting worst year by year and till the road is the same, a better public transport will do and with the building of 2nd Penang bridge don't u think it will effect the traffic towards the island and in the island ??
I have no idea what the government is trying to do here...at least a better public transport will have a peace of mind for the penangites.

"Today is just the 1st step. There might not be any defections yet," said a source.
It is learnt that at the press conference, the party might once again call upon Prime Minister Abdullah to do more for Sabah, especially in regards to solving the illegal immigrant's problem as well as poverty eradication.

Gas Price On Oil Producing Countries
Our Malaysian oil money.
1. Why did my government sell MAS (private sale) to Tajuddin Ramli who had no knowledge whatsoever about running an airline ? Why did my government then later bail out Tajuddin by paying RM8 per share when the shares were trading at only RM3.60 in the open market, costing close to RM1 billion ?? Petronas Money ?
2.What is the justification of spending RM20 billion on a grandiose government city at a time when office space was available in Kuala Lumpur ? Petronas Money ?
3.What are the basis of granting "Indah Water Konsortium" a concession to manage the national sewerage system ? Could the government explain the RM1.4 billion soft loan to IWK which clearly has irrecoverable losses ? Petronas Money ?
4.Why did the government rescue Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad which had debts of RM1.7 billion ? Petronas Money ?
So Ladies N Gentleman Prepare YourSelf For More Shocking News !!!
